Getting Started
What is Vibuild?
Vibuild is a universal app that turns your iPhone into a remote Xcode command center. Install it on both your Mac (as a server) and your iPhone/iPad (as a client) to send AI prompts, trigger builds, and manage your development workflow from anywhere in your home or office.
System Requirements
- Mac: macOS 15.0 or later with Xcode installed
- iPhone/iPad: iOS 26.0 or later
- Network: Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network
- AI Tools (optional): Claude, Kimi, or Gemini CLI installed on your Mac
Installation & Setup
How do I install Vibuild?
Vibuild is available on the App Store. Since it's a universal app, you only need to purchase it once to use it on both your Mac and iOS devices. Download and install it on each device you want to use.
How do I connect my iPhone to my Mac?
- Open Vibuild on your Mac and click "Start Server"
- Open Vibuild on your iPhone/iPad
- Your Mac should appear in the list of available servers
- Tap the Mac to connect — no manual IP configuration needed
If your Mac doesn't appear, ensure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and that local network access is enabled for Vibuild in your iOS Settings.
Why can't my iPhone find my Mac?
- Verify both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network
- Check that the Vibuild server is running on your Mac
- Ensure local network permissions are granted on iOS (Settings → Vibuild → Local Network)
- Try restarting the Vibuild app on both devices
- Some corporate or public networks may block Bonjour/mDNS discovery
AI Providers
Which AI providers are supported?
Vibuild supports the following AI coding assistants:
- Claude by Anthropic
- Kimi by Moonshot AI
- Gemini by Google
Do I need to install AI tools separately?
Yes. Vibuild acts as a remote interface to AI tools that must be installed and configured on your Mac. The app does not include AI functionality itself — it connects to the tools you already have installed.
How do I install Claude Code?
Visit claude.ai/code
for installation instructions. Once installed, Vibuild will automatically detect it if it's
in your PATH (typically in ~/.local/bin, /usr/local/bin, or /opt/homebrew/bin).
Build & Development
How do I trigger a build?
- Connect to your Mac from your iPhone
- Select your Xcode project in the Mac Vibuild app
- Choose the target scheme and destination device
- Tap the build button in the iOS app
Why is my build failing?
Build failures can occur for many reasons. Check the build output in the Vibuild app for specific error messages. Common issues include:
- Code signing issues — ensure your developer certificate is valid
- Missing dependencies — check that all Swift Packages or CocoaPods are resolved
- Xcode version mismatch — the project may require a different Xcode version
- Device not connected — for physical device builds, ensure the device is plugged in and trusted
What is "Fix with AI"?
When a build fails, Vibuild can automatically send the error message and relevant code context to your selected AI provider. The AI will analyze the error and suggest fixes, which you can review and apply on your Mac.
Purchases & Billing
Is Vibuild free?
Vibuild offers a free trial with limited functionality. Full access requires a one-time in-app purchase. All purchases are processed through the App Store and tied to your Apple ID.
How do I restore my purchase?
If you've previously purchased Vibuild, you can restore your purchase at no cost on any device signed in with the same Apple ID. Look for the "Restore Purchases" option in the app settings.
Can I get a refund?
All purchases are handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support directly.
Troubleshooting
The app crashes on launch
- Ensure your device meets the minimum system requirements
- Try force-quitting the app and reopening it
- Restart your device
- Delete and reinstall the app from the App Store
Connection drops frequently
- Check your Wi-Fi signal strength on both devices
- Move closer to your Wi-Fi router
- Avoid network congestion (large downloads, streaming on the same network)
- Some power-saving features may interrupt the connection
AI responses are slow or timing out
AI response times depend on the provider's servers and your internet connection. Large codebases may take longer to process. If timeouts persist:
- Check your internet connection speed
- Try a different AI provider
- Break large requests into smaller chunks
